Head of Marketing
Salary: Start as contractor up to £53 per hour dependent on experience with the opportunity to join full-time based on fit.

The Role:
You are passionate about and experienced in building engaged communities especially for Gen Z including our initial target of current further/higher education students. You have (co-)created a strategy with leadership that leverages content for the purpose of building an engaged community virtually, in-person, and ideally both.
You are well-versed in the various types of content that resonate most with Gen Z. You are data-driven and seek to run quick experiments that validate or invalidate your assumptions. Based on your expertise in execution, you welcome the opportunity to train and coach your team (ideally junior team members) to iterate on content that drives engagement. You also welcome the opportunity to express your own creativity by creating content with the intent to define structure for your team.
You keep in touch with the latest in content and community building across industries and you seek to emulate what others have done well while maintaining the company's own brand. You are comfortable and may have experience in (co-)developing brand in the context of content and community.
You look forward to connecting directly with the members of an engaged community so that you can continue to create content that engages them.

Main Duties And Responsibilities:
- Content strategy creation and management
- Content production, marketing, copywriting and management of team for these responsibilities
- Brand development and management
- Community building both virtually and in-person
- Stakeholder management
- Management of project deadlines and budget management for internal engagement and collaboration
- Team management with strong focus on coaching
Essential Skills And Experience:
- Previous experience as Head of Content or role with similar responsibilities for a startup
- Proven track record in content creation and management for virtual and in-person campaigns and events
- Previous experience with data-driven approach and the use of analytics and experiments
- Previous experience with team and people management with a strong focus on coaching
- Strong research skills and ability to quickly digest new information
- Interest in and understanding of the alternative food sector including leading brands
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience with creating convincing commercially focused copy for a range of mediums

We consider this role as an opportunity for both you and the leadership to get to know each other better and determine whether there is a fit to drive the growth and engagement of our membership as a movement.
For the next couple weeks to about 2 months, we have an immediate need to support an upcoming pilot in a larger UK city with our partners.
- Hours: we estimate a minimum of 5 hours per week although we are open to more depending on availability
- Duration: about 1-2 months to start
- Location: remote/flexible with the opportunity to travel to the city that we conduct the pilot to engage with community members
About Us:
MeatFreed is an early-stage startup born out of Launchpad, a venture studio programme based in Falmouth University, Cornwall, UK. Patrick, co-founder, created the idea based on his wife's struggles with experimenting with a vegan diet.
MeatFreed recognises the impact of meat production on the environment, health, and animal welfare. Out of all age groups, Gen Z and specifically 16-24s can drive the longest-term reduction in carbon emissions. This age group though have a need to associate themselves with our inclusive belief around plant-based and the opportunity to amplify their voice and influence through our vast resources.
MeatFreed seeks to become a movement: inclusive, positive, encouraging, and welcoming to all from those who are just curious about starting a plant-based journey to those who have already been on that journey and want to share with others.
With two co-founders that have complementary skills and expertise across sectors, the leadership completed a pilot late 2021 with a simple MVP that resulted in registering 10% of the student population as members that receive discounts for choosing plant-based at 40 local restaurants in two UK regions.
With Launchpad's support, MeatFreed is starting a pilot soon in a larger UK city with partners to continue with validation. Based on the success of this pilot, early-stage investors have already expressed strong interest to support the growth of MeatFreed with institutional funding.
