Are you a great leader looking to work in an innovative field with a mission-led organisation? Are you able to throw yourself into an evolving organisation and know what needs to happen?

As the General Manager, you’ll work closely with us to set the overall strategy for the organisation. Working collaboratively, you will be responsible for managing month-to-month operations to deliver the strategic objectives.

Cellular agriculture is an emerging multidisciplinary research field dedicated to producing animal products (e.g. meat, eggs, dairy, leather) by farming animal cells, not living animals. Cellular agriculture has the potential to provide a sustainable supply of food and biomaterials to our growing population whilst reducing the impact of climate change, improving human health, and eliminating animal suffering.

We believe in using rigorous science and innovative technology to future-proof our food systems. Our values are focused on environmental sustainability, improving human health, and strengthening Australia’s economy. We also acknowledge that the sector cannot thrive unless it is diverse, inclusive, and equitable.

If you are a people person who enjoys building collaborative partnerships with academic institutions and commercial industry representatives we’d love to talk. We are looking for someone who will build meaningful relationships with mission-driven researchers who want to use STEM for good – and you’ll help them do so by providing connections, resources, and supporting them to raise funding for cellular agriculture research. You’ll also be experienced in communicating science to non-technical stakeholders; particularly with investors, academic researchers, industry leaders and students.

You don’t need to be a scientist necessarily, but it will be your area of interest.

In this role, you’ll build an in-depth understanding of the current state of the cellular agriculture industry and the foundational research required to advance the field. If this is the challenge you’re looking for, please contact us to discuss further.

The position reports directly to the Board of Directors and works in close collaboration with the Operations Manager. The role is part-time (equivalent to 3 working days) and is fully remote (anywhere in Australia). Please note we are not in a position to sponsor visas.

Please send your CV and cover letter to careers@cellagaustralia.org

Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
