Modeling Process Engineer (Digital Twin)
"A non-hierarchical environment, where transparency and meritocracy are table stakes."
Ark is seeking a process engineer with advanced modeling experience to support the development of Ark’s novel bioreactor systems.
You will play a critical role in the R&D and scale-up of novel cell culture bioreactors and peripheral vessel designs for the cultivated meat industry. The modeling process engineer will support our broader manufacturing science team through simulating conventional and novel bioprocessing operations for cell expansion and maturation across a wide range of sizes, including vessel sizes an order of magnitude bigger than any bioreactor that exists today.
The role of the modeling process engineer is an excellent opportunity for an entrepreneurial, self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment. The position entails working with a multidisciplinary team as part of a new product development cycle, which includes developing concepts and taking them from initial design and prototyping through commercialization.
Key responsibilities
- Establish virtual bioreactor model (digital twin) framework and best practices to support animal cell culture scale-up
- Evaluate bioreactor performance characteristics in different scale, design, and operation modes and optimize the design/operation condition to improve bioprocess performance
- Work with the Ark design team to develop robust end-to-end processes that can be implemented at scale and to advance the technical roadmap
- Collaborate with external co-development partners to drive shared process design and development goals and to support joint technical agenda
- Establish knowledge management strategy and manage digital twin model database
- Adhere to the relevant safety, documentation, and quality standards
