At NoPalm Ingredients we believe that we can fix the palm oil problem. Palm oil causes tropical rainforest deforestation, destroying precious habitats of endangered species and emitting large volumes of CO2 into our atmosphere day after day.

Our team is building the most sustainable and environmentally-friendly alternative to palm oil. NoPalm Ingredients’ fermentation technology valorizes side streams (potato peels, rejected vegetables, etc.) into high-quality microbial oils that replace palm oil and other plant-derived oils as an ingredient in food, cosmetics, and detergents.

Our experienced Head of Business Development will lead the design and implementation of our go to market and new market entry strategy, as we take our microbial oil products from to commercial scale.

You’ll refine where and how we go to market initially and identify how we expand globally. You’ll lead our ‘market activation’ and initiate and build the strategic partnerships we need across a full range of channels to market and to the end consumer.

As our product range evolves, you’ll be continually scanning the market, identifying and assessing new revenue generation opportunities, and negotiating the deals that will ensure we grow at real pace. You’ll have a detailed understanding of demand.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement a high-impact commercial go-to-market and growth plan for our unique range of microbial oil products working closely together with our R&D team
  • Generate innovative, disruptive ideas for revenue generation and ensure our brand stands out in the highly competitive and rapidly evolving alternative fats industry
  • Identify, develop and secure the strategic partnerships that will ensure we have a broad range of outstanding channels to market and the revenue generation opportunities we need to ensure sustained growth
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements and ensure we maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with our commercial customers
  • Market scanning to identify new & innovative channels to market, including building and maintaining deep levels of insight into consumer mindset, attitude and receptiveness to cultivated meat products
  • Analyse and present data to key stakeholders on the development of ongoing deals and future opportunity forecasts

Who you are

We are looking for an experienced Head of Business Development with relevant business experience in palm oil and other tropical fats and oils engineer. This is a HARD requirement for each candidate.

You are hands-on, entrepreneurial, like to work methodologically, and are focused on the critical path. In addition to that you have:

  • An extensive network and track record of working within B2B food and cosmetics customers in oils & fats
  • An excellent track record in identifying and creating market opportunities and developing new business and revenue in the food or beverage sector, ideally as B2B
  • The ability to build, develop and manage great relationships - and negotiate commercially valuable deals - with partners on an international scale
  • Experience of designing go to market and new market entry strategies, and/or leadership experience of their successful implementation
  • Track record of showing initiative and innovative problem-solving
  • Excellent business acumen and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to respond positively to unplanned events in a fast-changing environment
  • The ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary, diverse team
