Company Description: Adamo Foods is a new food technology start-up, developing sustainable, healthy, and delicious alternatives to meat whole-cuts. We’re launching the world’s first convincing steak alternative, entirely made from fungi. We believe in a sustainable and environmentally-conscious lifestyle where people no longer have to choose between their favourite foods and preserving the environment & human health.

Role Description: We are looking for a Head of Science to oversee and manage the R&D process of our fermentation technology. The ideal candidate should be an expert in biotechnology and have previous experience with microbial fermentation. He/She should be passionate about technology & sustainability, with a strong entrepreneurial drive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead our R&D process and help define key fermentation procedures

• Help with the development of upstream and downstream processes

• Establish and oversee key experiments at prototype and lab scale

• Liaise with our R&D partners in Europe, and establish effective communication

• Build a strong team of scientists and establish strategic partnerships to support our goals

• Assist with other departments/tasks

Requirements:

• MS or PhD in either Biotechnology/ Microbiology / Biochemistry/ Food technology, or other related discipline

• Have a strategic and analytical mind-set, with the ability of developing new methods/strategies to reach company goals

• Passion and dedication towards creating new technologies

• Strong communications skills

• Previous experience in food fermentation, ideally with filamentous fungi

• Passion for plant-based foods, the food industry, and sustainability in general
