Interested in pushing the boundaries of materials and engineering whilst mitigating climate change? Are you innovative, entrepreneurial and keen to contribute to the development of environmentally positive, circular life-cycle packaging and sustainable foods and “foods as medicine”?
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Engineer to join our innovative high-growth company developing products from sustainably farmed seaweed. This role would be suitable for an Electrical, Chemical or Process Engineer with experience ideally in a food, chemical processing and/or bio-refining environment, seeking a challenge in an emerging environmentally positive industry. You will be involved in the design, planning and manufacture of a new refinery, scale-up, and technology transfer of our innovative biorefinery model. You will have hands on participation on process development trials, value engineering projects, identifying and working to improve yield, efficiency and lower costs as well as implementing new sustainable projects to support our replicate and scale model for seaweed biorefineries. You will work closely with the Senior Process Engineer and COO to improve process robustness for current commercial products.
OCEANIUM is a biotech, social and environmental impact start-up business, focused on developing products from sustainably farmed seaweed. Based in Oban Scotland with an office in London, OCEANIUM is seeking a process/electrical or chemical engineer who wants to use their experience to make an impact on the health of people and planet. This is a hands-on role requiring an evidenced based approach to design and decision making. The OCEANIUM tempo is steady but high, hence we need someone who will hit the ground running and over the next few months, will finalise the process development phase, then complete design build phases. We plan to have 5-7 processing facilities by 2030, so standardisation of design and execution methodology will be required.
