Dr. Katie Kam is a vegan Texan wanting to end animal slaughter by creating the win-win solution of providing meat without the harm to the animals or the environment. Her role as founder and CEO of BioBQ is the culmination of 25-years of cumulative experience as a biologist, chemist, engineer, community planner, business owner, science teacher, and engineering research professor.

Dr. Kam is an exceptionally ambitious leader that when she sets her mind on something, it is going to happen. She has earned five college degrees, founded two businesses, secured funding ($ millions) for innovative research and implementation projects, and years of experience navigating regulatory and public processes and managing multi-disciplinary projects. Dr. Kam is a technical CEO that actively engages in both the scientific/engineering and business strategies.

She highly values and encourages creativity and collaboration, qualities essential for making gains in the cultured meat frontier. She did not imagine during her days as a meat-eating BBQ waitress in high school and college in Austin, Texas that over two decades later, she would be a vegan creating the next generation of BBQ. The transformation of her diet, values, and career is a reflection of her insatiable curiosity, open-mindedness, and drive to make the world a better place.
