Finance Manager (SME / Start up) – Dartford

Dartford (4 days office, 1 day work from home) – This can be reviewed for flexibility after 6 months

A unique opportunity for an ambitious part or qualified Accountant to join a growing start-up food production organisation which has  private equity backing from an industry expert. Seeing international growth at a rapid pace and already having product on shelf in some major retailers, this food production business has created the perfect storm of offering a brilliant product into a rapidly growing industry sector at the right time.

You will be instrumental in bringing finance in-house, setting up robust financial processes, procedures specific to food manufacturing, systems, and the foundations to build out a finance team. Reporting to the founders, you will be in sole charge of company finances and as such need to be experienced in the following areas:

Management responsibilities:

·       Producing monthly management packs including bespoke insight for the founders and private equity group.

·       Calculating product cost though setting up a standard costing model and scrutinising inventory (food supplies), labour, food, and distribution costs assumptions.

·       Preparing weekly KPI performance reporting, sales, production values

·       Collate information to monitor and report on product costs including innovation development and launch, manufacturing efficiency, customer / range, and product profitability

·       Supporting the Founders in developing long-term business plans, setting annual budgets, forecasts, and ways to monitor

·       Setting up agile and robust financial process, procedures, and systems

·       Working with external Accountants on optimizing data entry, annual returns, and R&D claims

Daily / transactional finance:

·       Daily bank reconciliations

·       Full purchase ledger responsibility

·       Full sales ledger responsibility

·       Responsible for payroll, including all associated administration - holidays, new starters, RTI submissions, pensions, etc.

·       Preparing and submitting VAT returns

To be in contention, and ultimately successful in this role, you will have experience working in a food production business, and display the follow character traits:

·       Experience working with product costs, standard costing models, and PPV

·       Strong organisational and planning skills

·       Excellent attention to detail

·       Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload

·       Self-motivated with a commitment to continual improvement

·       Good team worker with a positive outlook
